The LightCanes brand developed to help a lady with a mobility problem. Not wanting the stigma of using a traditional stick, she sought a walking aid which was funky and fun, while still providing high visibility.
The problem was that all the illuminated ones were operated by turning the stick upside down and removing the messy bottom ferrule. Unable to balance unaided, these sticks were non-starters.
To solve the problem the first LED walking cane with both the batteries and on/off switch housed in the handle was created. To showcase this innovation, LightCanes has been invited to exhibit at fairs and country houses across the country (photos below).
